I was making a right turn at a red light. I did not come to a complete stop, however I was not driving at an excessive speed either. I had slowed down coming to a stop and when I saw the intersection was clear I continued making my right turn.
Driving a Prius in Eco mode I am unable to drive at an excessive speed. I was issued a ticket for not stopping at a red light. is it wise I fight this ticket?
I'm always curious, why would you dispute a red light ticket when by your own admission you didn't stop? It is logical to dispute a ticket where the ticket is for something that you didn't do, such as coming to a stop as required but were ticketed for not stopping. In this instance, slowing down isn't enough, you have to stop and if you don't this is what could happen.
If you are worried about the cost, the easiest way to deal with that is to dispute the penalty in writing. You won't even have to go to court to do that.
Of course you could dispute and hope that the officer fails to show up or doesn't present his case sufficiently, but if this doesn't happen you will need a defence. Since we already know that you didn't stop, what other avenue of attack were you thinking of?
