NEWS - BC to Make Changes in Off Road Vehicle Laws

Rules for off-road vehicle registration and licensing, helmet use, youth safety and environmental measures will be implemented under a new off-road vehicle (ORV) management framework, announced Tourism, Culture and the Arts Minister Kevin Krueger today.

Under the new rules most off road vehicles will be treated much the same way that snowmobiles are today. Licensing and safety equipment, including the use of helmets, will be required along with restrictions on how they can be operated by children. In return, drivers of off road vehicles will be able to drive them across highways and other rights of way at designated points.

The program is expected to be fully implemented within two years.
