DRIVER KNOWLEDGE - Alberta Drivers Fail Test

ConfusedThe University of Calgary's Schulich School of Engineering created a test similar to that administered to new drivers attempting to obtain their first driver's license. Almost 89% of the experienced drivers who took that test failed it. Even after removing questions not directly related to rules of the road the reported pass rate was still only between 22.9 percent and 38.6 percent.

Chances are good that these results would not change much if the test was administered in other provinces.

The trouble is, an educated driver is not always a safe driver. One must choose to follow the rules of the road and practice defensive driving in order to promote safety. Of course, knowing what the rules are does help...
