Q&A - Does Driving Without Insurance Mean an Immediate Impound?

Ticket WriterWhen a person is stopped for no insurance in BC, no matter where, is the car immediately impounded? Are there any exemptions? The reason I asked is: my employee said he got stopped for expired plates on the car he was driving, but the RCMP officer in Courtenay told him just to park it, even though the ICBC insurance had expired a week earlier.

Do Farm Tractors Need Licence Plates?

Farm TractorMost motor vehicles need a licensed driver, a license and license plate and insurance in order to be operated on a highway. This is not always the case with a farm tractor or other motorized implement of husbandry. The driver may not need a license or license plates depending on how the vehicle is used.

However, I have come to learn that the operator, as a favor to neighbours outside our strata, has taken to plowing some of the public road, an area rarely addressed on a timely basis by MOT plows.

Allowing an Unlicensed Minor to Drive

Q&A - Blacked Out Insurance Papers

Q&A ImageA few months ago there was an article published stating that your name and address should be blacked out on your auto insurance papers, so in the event that your auto was stolen with the garage door opener in it, the thieves would not have easy access to your home and address. It went on to say that all the info that the police require would be on your drivers licence.
