Do As I Say, Not As I Do

SoapboxI have to admit that I made a conscious decision to disobey a couple of traffic laws the other day. I disregarded the speed limit and failed to keep to the right lane. I didn't think that the failing to keep right would be an issue because I was pacing a marked police vehicle that I knew was not responding to an emergency.

Q&A - Warning for Speeding on Record?

Q&A ImageI got a speeding warning by the police yesterday. He said my speed was over 60, but I am sure I was not driving over 60. I worry if the warning was put on the computer or not. If it is kept on record,it's not fair for me. I even don't have the chance to dispute for it. How can I know if it is on record or not?

Q&A - Police access to ICBC records?

Q&A ImageI'm just wondering if the computers inside police cars have access to all of icbc's driving records and database?

Q&A - Saying Nothing at a Roadblock.

Q&A ImageI am very upset by the long waits at roadblocks. It is infuriating how the police will inconvenience a line of cars for 15-20 minutes (say on the Malahat) and close a major highway.

It gets me riled up waiting and then to have a police officer invade your privacy and ask where you are from and to is none of his business (as well as the usual "have you had anything to drink")

My questions:

Q&A - Rude, Aggressive and Obnoxious

Q&A ImageWe live in a small town up north with the RCMP are well known to be rude, aggressive and ...obnoxious. My 25 year old son was teaching my 21 year old son how to drive a standard last night...my younger son stalled on the road and tried to get the car started and stalled a couple of more times - he was more nervous also because there was a police car behind him.

Q&A - Told to dispute ticket by cop??

Q&A ImageI just moved here from Manitoba and have already got my first BC speeding ticket! I was on my motorcycle on the Trans Canada in the construction zones. I was riding behind another motorbike at about 7 car lengths behind him when we passed the cop.

Q&A - Being served a traffic ticket at home

Q&A ImageA few days ago an off duty police member from another town reported a family member as allegedly committing two traffic infractions.  A constable from our local RCMP has attended our home twice to try to serve this family member with the traffic tickets, but has (honestly) come when this family member was at work.

DO SOMETHING! (But Don't Ask Me to Help)

Q&A ImageI just phoned Abbotsford police about a driver of a Nissan GTR license plate 735-TRB that passed me at about 160 kmh on Riverside road. They say there is nothing I can do to report unless I am willing to go to court. I have a life and work and am not making my wages for the day if I to go to court.

Q&A - Number of Officers Involved in Issuing a Ticket

Q&A ImageHow does a person know whether multiple officers were involved in a speeding ticket and not just the officer who issued the ticket? If there is doubt, how can a civilian investigate the matter further and find out?

Q&A - What do the Police Think about Heavy Trucks?

Q&A ImageI drive a semi tractor trailer for a living. I was wondering what cops' take is on slowly rolling through a stop sign at 5 kph, after scanning the intersection in a rural area and seeing no traffic.
