Q&A - Non-Standard Rearview Mirror

New Driver Signs 2011I am currently driving while using a clip-on wide rear-view mirror and was wondering if it's use is allowed during the Class 5 driving test.

It is a 20cmx6cm rectangular flat mirror that goes over the existing one in the car.

Q&A - Who Gets to Use Bus Only Lanes?

Q&A ImageAre airport shuttles, such as 'Airport Link Shuttle" based out of Surrey allowed in the bus only lanes on Highway 99?

Q&A - Summer Student Employed as Driver

Q&A ImageWe are looking to hire a summer student for a summer delivery position with our company. The candidate has a valid learners Alberta license (equivalent to N driver). In February he had his license suspended for 4 months due to an accident to which he lost his N privileges.

Q&A - Tinted Licence Plate Cover

Q&A ImageI have had a tinted license plate cover on my vehicle for over 5 years now, and just recently i have been getting pulled over for it. The first event happened last week and the officer went to explain to me how they were illegal and that i should remove it immediately. Myself being the type that does not follow orders well, i left it on my vehicle.

Q&A - Right Turns After the Turn Lane

Q&A ImageA few of us have recently been discussing whether a certain type of turn is legal or not, with differing opinions. I'm hoping someone here might be able to settle the matter.

There are many intersections with a channelized right turn lane, where drivers turning right are separated by a small island from through and/or left turning traffic. Here's an example of one of these intersections:

Q&A - Distracted Driving With an N

New Driver Signs 2011I recieved a ticket a week ago for cell phone use while driving. It was my first ticket aside from a parking ticket. On the ticket it also includes a fine for failing to display my N.

If I pay this ticket am I going to be prohibited from driving? Is there anything I can do? I have a job that requires driving.

Q&A - At Qualicum Beach's Only Traffic Light

Q&A ImageThe issue is our only traffic light up town by Qualicum Foods.

Perhaps I’ve misunderstood the rules of the road at intersections, but I thought if someone was at the intersection waiting to turn left that you (if you are approaching behind them) should let them make their turn and not pass on the right and travel through the intersection cutting off vehicles that may be turning left from the other direction?

Q&A - Vehicle Advertising Wraps

Q&A ImageI am wrapping a Tesla x90D with a vinyl wrap to promote our business.

I am trying to understand the laws of where i can or can't apply vehicle wrap. I do no see anything outlined in the Motor Vehicle Act.

The Tesla has a very high windshield reaching almost back to the mid point of the roof.

Q&A - To Turn Left or Not to Turn Left

Q&A ImageOn the East side of this intersection there is a parking lot with apartments, a hotel, shopping etc. On the West side there is a 7-11 gas station, grocery store, bank etc. The West side has a meridian for entering/exiting. The only signage is for merging & do not enters. There is no signage that states you cannot turn left to go Northbound on the Highway.

Q&A - Winter Tires on RV Trailers?

Q&A ImageI have a question about the requirement for snowflake/M+S tires on recreational vehicles October 1 to March 31.

Because the highway warning sign does not specifically picture travel trailers, I previously asked the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure about what tires are required on travel trailers in winter. I was told that all tires on the travel trailer must be snowflake or M+S.
