VIDEO - How to Clean Your Windshield

video iconMy windshield seems to have two visible areas, the one swept by the wipers and all the rest. You can clearly see them when you look across it at an angle. I've never been able to really clean the glass so that it is the same overall. I found this video and it seems to be the OCD Guide to Cleaning Glass, but I want to give it a try. Being able to see well, especially in bad weather, is critical to safe driving.

VIDEO - From One Second to the Next

video iconFrom YouTube: "Xavier, Chandler, Debbie, and Reggie all know the horrors of texting & driving firsthand. Acclaimed director Werner Herzog tells their stories in this powerful It Can Wait Documentary."

VIDEO - Three Invisible Pedestrians

video iconThere're quite a few accidents daily in Vancouver, pedestrians being hit. Just last night, someone was hit in New West and they had to close Stewardson Way. Its crazy the way people walk here. Full deep black is not visible through a wet screen with a thousand lights flashing in your eyes from the oncoming cars lights.

VIDEO - The Unpredictable Pedestrian

video iconA lot can happen in just the 23 seconds of this video contributed by Orang Gila, taken in Maple Ridge, just past the Safeway at Dewdney Trunk Road. Keep an eye out for the pedestrian on the right sidewalk mid-block who is clearly dithering about crossing the street and is having difficulty finding a large enough gap in the four lanes of traffic that she must cross on the busy street.

VIDEO - TED Talk Featuring Steven Levitt on Child Restraints

BC Bad Cyclist of the Week

This video takes place at the intersection of Jingle Pot Road and the Nanaimo Parkway in Nanaimo, B.C. The rider of this electric bicycle is behaving like a pedestrian by operating on the left side of the highway and using crosswalks. This is not an issue if the rider dismounts and pushes the cycle. If she intended to ride legally, she needs to be on the right hand side of the highway following the same rules as other motorized traffic.

VIDEO - Effective Motorcycle Braking

video iconThis video is part of a series from the Motorcycle Council of New South Wales, Australia. It compares and contrasts front and rear wheel only braking and teaches that effective braking is a combination of both.

VIDEO - Surprising Volkswagen Advertisement

video iconThis Volkswagen advertisement is a thought provoking comment on texting and driving. It's worth the 1:22 of your time to watch the video.

VIDEO - Drowsy Driving, You Can't Fight Sleep

video iconBetter than singing, turning up the radio, driving with the window down or stopping periodically for exercise, if you are too tired to drive, sleep is the only remedy. A 15 minute nap possibly coupled with consumption of some strong coffee might get you to a point where you can continue for another hour or two. There is no better position to be in than that of being well rested before driving.

VIDEO - Now You See Me

video iconIf you don't check your mirrors, you don't know what you are missing! The UK Automobile Association's Think Bikes Campaign includes this "cheeky" 39 second video to remind drivers that failing to look is one of the major contributing factors for all types of collisions. With the start of better cycling weather in BC, this is something to keep in mind here too.
