Police Are Exempt From Laws
I was reading the following news story: Calgary driver fined $155 for plate-obscuring bike rack also seen on police vehicles
There is a quote from a Calgary police officer: “Police are exempt from laws, but still if it was going to be a protracted event where that bike rack is going to be on that vehicle for a while, we share the same obligation as we do with our motoring public,”
I am curious about how this works within BC. I assumed that the police were subject to the same laws as anyone else while operating a motor vehicle outside of emergency situations. Can anyone enlighten me?
