NEWS - Changes Coming for Traffic Tickets in BC
One day in the not too distant future police will swipe your driver's licence through a card reader, pick the offence from a list on their computer screen and click print to issue you a traffic ticket. No more hand written ticket forms for BC drivers.
You will be able to deal with the ticket on line and disputes will no longer land either you or the officer in traffic court. Instead an administrative process of some sort will take over, speeding up the resolution process from the current 7 to 18 months to a hoped for 90 days. This will free up the court system and save the taxpayer money according to the Ministry of Justice press release.
Expect the process to be fully implemented by 2014.
