Vehicle Licencing

Information with regard to vehicle licencing.

The Lowly Licence Plate

BC Licence PlateThe licence plate has one purpose: to quickly and easily identify the vehicle that it is attached to. This is important enough that a whole division of the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations is devoted to the subject. Fines for failing to follow these rules may be expensive as well, ranging from $109 to as much as $230.

Operation of Unlicensed Motor Vehicles

ATVIf it has a motor, gasoline or electric, and you operate it on a highway, chances are you need a driver's licence and the vehicle will need licence and insurance. There are very few exceptions to this rule.

While it may be convenient to take your quad to the community mailboxes instead of walking or driving your lawn tractor around the block because you cannot easily drive between the upper and lower parts of your yard it could be an expensive trip in the wrong circumstances.

Should I Drive for Uber?

Uber LogoShould I become an Uber driver? It looks like a good way to pick up some easy money and provide a lower cost service to people at the same time. Before you visit the Uber web site and sign up, you should consider very carefully what risks you might be taking and how it could affect you. That little bit of pocket money could quickly become a mere drop in the bucket when it comes to covering your losses if a collision should occur.

Collector Licence Plates

BC Collector Licence PlateIt's show and shine season and the carefully maintained and restored older vehicles are out for our appreciation. I watched one vehicle from the early 50's pass by me the other day and I noticed that it was equipped with a center brake light and angel eyes in the headlights. It also sported a collector licence plate and that got me to thinking, were either of the two "enhancements" that I noticed allowed on a collector plated vehicle?
