Q&A - Making a Driving Complaint to Police

Q&A ImageHave you ever felt upset enough about something that happened around you in traffic that you wanted to report it to the police? I'm sure that we've all felt that way at one time or another but haven't followed through because we didn't know if it was worthwhile or if anything would happen to the offending driver if we did. Here is what you need to know in order to make an effective driving complaint to police in BC.

Q&A - Teaching a Young Person to Drive

Q&A ImageI volunteer for Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Canada and have had a little brother from the time he was 5 until now when he recently celebrated 16th birthday and got his L for driving. His Mom being a single parent that works a couple jobs doesn’t have a lot of extra money for driving lessons. I thought I’d help out.

Q&A - How To Attach a New Driver Sign

New Driver Signs 2011How do I display my N if the magnet won't stick to my car? The back window is too dark for it to be on the inside. I've tried Mail Label envelopes and they only work for a little while. I've lost so many N magnets, I'd like a better solution. Help!

Q&A - Can a Driver Deal with an IRP After the Fact?

Keys and DrinkA person that left a nightclub had one drink early in the evening and drank water rest of the night because they knew they were driving. This person spoke with many officers upon leaving, went for coffee and gas and saw another officer and spoke with him. He left, driving down the highway a little faster than he should have at approximately 2 am.

Q&A - Do I Have to Obey the Sign?

Q&A ImageI was asked to comment on an interesting "exchange of views" on Facebook regarding a no left turn sign posted by the Delta School District at Richardson Elementary School. It began as a discussion about whether a driver had to obey the sign or not and then deteriorated into less than respectful exchanges. Unfortunately, the post was removed, so you can't gather anything of value from it regardless now.

Q&A - Electric Wheelchair Collision

motorized wheelchairMy mom was injured by a man riding in an electric wheelchair who was going too fast entering the James Bay Library. She was walking ahead of him when he ran into her. We have taken pictures of her leg injury. She is quite emotional about the incident and it has aggravated her PTSD.

Q&A - School Buses Blocking the Intersection

Q&A ImageI am wondering about the legalities of the school bus stopping in an intersection to discharge students. Rural road, and the bus stops in the intersection like so: / it crosses the center line to provide coverage for crossing students. Stop signs out and flashing lights activated. I believe if the bus were to be involved in an accident at this time, it would be at fault for crossing the center line.

Q&A - Tire Chains on Commercial Vehicles

commercial vehicle chain signYesterday we drove up the Coquihalla from Hope, the plow trucks were doing a wonderful job on the highway but there was no care taken to plow out the chain-up pull-outs for commercial trucks. So now the trucks are all lined up along the right lane of the road, thus forcing regular traffic into one lane.

This may be ok except now a semi wants to start up the hill and realizes too late that the single set of chains he/she put on will not go and now stops the second lane until help arrives or more chains are installed. I don't mind being corrected here as I don't sit there observing all day but it appears that most of the truckers are trying to get by with only one set of single chains.
