RESOURCE - The B.C. Community Road Safety Toolkit

BC LogoA survey of municipalities in 2015 found that they were interesting in having more knowledge on road safety planning, safety designs, and strategies. The toolkit will be built and distributed as part of the province's Vision Zero initiative and is intended for all agencies with a mandate related to road safety.

The first module, Protecting People Walking and Cycling, focuses on road designs that work to better protect pedestrians and cyclists from motor vehicle-related injury.

The second module, Safe Roadway Designs to Protect all Road Users, builds on the first by introducing roadway designs and traffic engineering strategies to improve the safety of all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicle occupants.

The third module, Implementation Tools and Strategies, introduces a series of implementation tools and strategies to help local road authorities plan their road safety activities and efforts more effectively.
