I have a concern about the road between Port Alberni and the West Coast. When they redid the slow vehicle pullouts, they dressed them up to look exactly like passing lanes. Now everyone travels in those lanes.

This case heard before Justice N. Smith examines a collision that occurred when a car driven by Miquel Cue stopped for a stop sign and was struck from behind by a truck driven by Roy Breitkreuz.

It was not uncommon to be told that a new driver sign was not being displayed because adults took the sign as a signal to bully the new driver. I thought that was just a convenient excuse to give the policeman when you couldn't be bothered to make sure that the required sign was in place.

When I worked on the Municipal Traffic Section in Penticton about 15 years ago I watched a young man on a motorcycle ahead of me in traffic on the summertime busy main street. He was first in line at a red light and when it turned green he cranked on the throttle and roared off down the street balanced on the rear wheel with the front one about three feet off the ground.

A good definition of an aggressive driver is "an individual committing a combination of moving traffic offenses so as to endanger other persons or property." Do you fit this definition? A paper on the subject that I read recently states that the answer to this question is most likely "no."

How is "street racing" defined? I've heard a lot about this subject lately and I'm puzzled about what constitutes street racing. I understand the obvious cases where two cars are having a late night drag race on public roads, but I don't understand how you would judge a more ambiguous circumstance. Where is the line drawn?

I had an interesting conversation with a driver at the roadside last Monday morning. I had stopped him for driving at 107 km/h in the posted 80 zone entering a high collision zone on Highway 4 east of Port Alberni. Speed is a particular problem in this zone as a primary contributor to collisions there.
