This video is produced by the Michelin Tire people and illustrates four topics: shorter stopping distances with winter tires, control difficulties with mis-matched tires, braking with and without ABS and steering while braking with and without ABS. All of this is conducted on snow covered ground.
Braking Distances
Vehicles with winter tires can stop approximately 25-30% sooner than those with all-season tires in snowy conditions. For example, one study showed a winter tire vehicle stopping in 47m, while an all-season tire vehicle needed 56m to stop on snow.
The difference in stopping distances becomes even more pronounced on ice, with winter tires providing a much safer stopping performance than all-season tires.
Mis-Matched Tire Types
Winter braking distances are significantly longer with mismatched tires because different tires offer varying levels of traction and stability. Mixing tires with different tread patterns, sizes, or internal constructions creates uneven grip, leading to a reduction in overall stability and control, making it harder to brake and steer effectively.
Anti-Lock Braking
Braking with winter tires and anti-lock brakes (ABS) on slippery surfaces is generally safer than having no ABS, as the system helps prevent wheel lock-up and maintains steering control, allowing for more effective stops.
While ABS may increase stopping distances in deep snow, its ability to maintain stability and steering is invaluable for avoiding obstacles in icy or wet conditions.
Steering
Steering is precise and controlled with winter tires on snow and ice because their softer rubber compound stays flexible in the cold, providing better grip. In contrast, steering with all-season tires in winter conditions is less responsive and offers reduced traction and longer stopping distances due to their stiffer rubber and less effective tread design in extreme cold

...... wow i guess everyone drives a new cadillac or high end VW, who are you tring to teach here, , put those same drivers in an average pickup or minivan with different loads in them and see if the abs works as well as drawn out on paper, if at all, , i say drivers are getting worse because of all the technology to make them better, trusting in your vehicles reputation can be a dangerous thing
