Q & A - Road Signs Used in BC

Q&A ImageQ: A while ago you had offered a test that new drivers have to get 80% on in order to pass. But there were at least 2 signs I had never seen before. One was a circle with nothing in it and then a square with nothing in it. I'm wondering if there are other signs I've never seen before and was trying to find a place on the driver's web-site where I could look at all the signs and what they mean - however, I couldn't find it. I'm wondering if you could give me the url to that information.

It's important to me to keep up good driving habits and to make sure I'm well informed.

A: Probably the best reference on road signs for our province is the Manual of Standard Traffic Signs & Pavement Markings.

Much less technical is chapter 3 of Learn to Drive Smart.

Finally, you could get lost looking through the Catalogue of Traffic Signs Update.

The answer gives good references to information on all the signs. It's also worth mentioning that the two signs with nothing on them the questioner had never seen before are not signs that anyone will see other than in the test. They want to know if you can identify what type of sign the shape indicates.
