Back in the "olden days" headlights were made of glass and the only real hazard was breaking the glass. Today the headlight body is made of plastic and the UV radiation from the sun will eventually cloud the lens. This affects both the brightness and the aim of the light you rely on to see.

Radar and laser detectors are currently legal to install in your vehicle and use to avoid prosecution for failing to follow the speed limits in British Columbia. One has to ask why BC is one of the few provinces in our country that has not made this illegal.
