You may have seen the dash cam videos from Richmond showing a number of vehicles apparently brazenly running red lights. The story hit the news amid amazed comments about how bad drivers were becoming in the Lower Mainland.

British Columbia's Motor Vehicle Act came into effect in 1957 with the main focus of regulating motor vehicle traffic on our highways. It is very similar to the current version save for the legislation on impaired driving, the use of electronic devices, driving while prohibited and vehicle impound as a penalty.
My house fronts a busy street and when turning left from my drive way in heavy traffic. I generally go through the northbound lane and into the Two Way Left Turn Lane, stop and wait to merge right into the southbound lane. I can’t seem to find legislation saying this is illegal in British Columbia but I haven’t found anything saying it is legal either.
