This is a case involving a pedestrian, Brian Cairney, and a driver, Kimberly Miller, who met in a crosswalk at the intersection of Vernon and Hall Streets in Nelson. It was a dark, overcast evening with light rain. Street lighting was present along with other pedestrians.
I believe bicycles and motor vehicles can exist together on our highways. I am concerned, however, with the amount of bicycle riders I see not wearing a helmet. I was most pleased back in 1997 when BC came out with a bicycle helmet law and other provinces probably didn't.
Grant Aune of Advantage Fleet Services explains the difference between "doing what you're told" and "doing what you have to". In this case he is using the example of load security and explains that the load may only require four tie downs by law, but you may choose to use more because you know that you don't want the load to move, so you are doing it for the right reasons.
I am over 82 and have failed my first road test . However I hope with refresher lessons at driving school to do better next time.
What are the rights and obligations of cyclists and motorists if the cyclist should choose to ride on the highway under snowy winter conditions? Uncleared pathways and cycling routes were forcing cyclists to choose to ride on the plowed streets of one Vancouver Island municipality resulting in a number of inquiries at city hall. Should cyclists be using the streets in winter time?
Hello, I don't know if this is the correct place to find this out, or perhaps you could suggest where I could turn, but are parking boots legal in BC? I work for a BC college and we are constantly battling improper parking and as a small campus we do not charge for parking and thus have no enforcement. A suggestion was to buy and start using a parking boot for cars parked illegally or in an unsafe manner.
My question is whether a Justice of Peace can deny a Charter argument that has already been heard and dismissed by a Provincial Judge and then referred back to Traffic court.
Occasionally I look at a driver around me in traffic and ask myself "what can they be thinking?" Today I wondered if the driver behind me was thinking at all! Road conditions could be described as typical BC winter driving, but this guy was so close that I couldn't see snow between the rear of my vehicle and the front of his.
Mark Clayton Mahovlich needed some ID because his driver's licence had been cancelled. He applied for a BCID using his brother's Care Card and birth certificate, neither of which carries a photo. Mark has a history of identifying himself as his brother and has caused significant problems for the brother by doing this.
