I heard from both a driving school instructor and a senior on this one, which is the idea that many older drivers take their driving responsibilities very seriously. So seriously in fact, that some choose to stop driving through their own choice rather than because they are forced to.
This case was heard in the BC Supreme Court in front of The Honourable Mr. Justice Burnyeat. Ali Maasoumian has an unenviable driving record. He accumulated 17 penalty points and the Superintendent issued a notice prohibiting him from driving for 8 months.

Can someone with their N have more than one friend in the car if they are the designated driver?
The Traffic Injury Research Foundation has released a report titled "An evaluation of graduated driver licensing programs in North America." The report concludes that graduated licensing reduces a 16 year old's chance of a fatal collision by 19%, chiefly by reducing the number of people in the vehicle driven by the teen. Negligible effects were seen for drivers in the 17 to 19 year old age groups.
Question: My 18 year old daughter would like to go to Victoria. She has her Washington state driver's licence. Is she allowed to drive by herself in BC with an out of province driver's licence? Is she allowed to carry passengers?
Back on the 25th of July I wrote about the rash of motorcycle collisions on Vancouver Island. Most were attributed to driver error and I wrote that the Graduated Licencing Program gave new drivers plenty of time to develop their skills before moving on to the next stage.
